Fake Pigeon baby bottles seized at a Bangkok shipping company

Thai police seized 1,150 counterfeit Pigeon baby products, 400 bottles and 750 teats, from a storeroom at a shipping company in Khlong Sam Wa, Bangkok on 6 October, according to Matichon and Khaosod. The search was carried out under a warrant from the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court. [1], [2]

The Economic Crime Suppression Division led the search with the Department of Intellectual Property, after a complaint from Pigeon’s authorised representative. Police say the goods were imported from abroad and stored at the company to be sold to online customers. The alleged offence is jointly importing goods bearing counterfeit trademarks under the Trademark Act B.E. 2534 (1991). No arrest was reported, and police said they would summon the company director and others for questioning. [1], [2]

Police also warned parents that counterfeit bottles and teats may not meet safety standards and could release harmful chemicals into milk when heated, and advised buying only from official stores or trusted distributors. [1]

The detail worth noting is where the goods were found. This wasn’t a shop or a seller’s home but a shipping company’s storeroom, part of the logistics behind online sales. Products used by babies also give enforcement agencies a strong safety reason to act, which brand owners in that sector can use when making a complaint.
