Officials in Mukdahan, in northeastern Thailand, have seized about 27,700 lighters bearing a suspected counterfeit TAIYO trademark in two searches three days apart in the same subdistrict, Na Si Nuan in Mueang Mukdahan district. MGR Online reports that the TAIYO mark belongs to Thai Merry Co., Ltd., and that a representative of the company travelled to Mukdahan to follow the case. [1], [2]

The first search, on 10 October, was of a warehouse at Ban Bung Utai under a Mukdahan Provincial Court warrant. It was led by an assistant district officer with district administration volunteers, Region 4 police investigators, Mueang Mukdahan police and immigration officers. According to MGR Online, they found about 10,730 lighters, two SD memory cards and 600 parcel boxes. The warehouse was used to store goods before they were packed for customers, who bought them through TikTok. No one was arrested, and officials are tracing the people responsible. [1]
On 12 October, Region 4 police investigators and Mueang Mukdahan police searched a house in the same subdistrict under a warrant issued the day before, Siam Rath reports. They seized 16,950 TAIYO lighters and 300 mosquito-repellent products described as made in China, and arrested a 31-year-old man from Maha Sarakham province who was identified as the owner of the goods. He faces charges of possessing and offering for sale goods with a counterfeit trademark, and of bringing goods into Thailand without customs clearance. [2]
Neither report says whether the two searches are linked. MGR Online says local sources describe the TikTok operation as running for two to three years, which police will check, and that officials are examining an earlier seizure of more than 200 cartons of similar goods for a connection. No values have been reported. [1]
Lighters are low-value goods, so a case like this depends on volume and on a brand owner willing to follow up. Here the owner sent someone to Mukdahan, and the trail ran from TikTok listings to a packing warehouse.
