Vietnam’s Agency for Domestic Market Surveillance and Development (DMS), part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, renewed a cooperation agreement with Procter & Gamble in Hanoi on 9 October, according to Viet Nam News. The partnership first started in 2023. [1]

Under the agreement, the two sides will share information on protected trademarks, how to identify genuine products, and suspected businesses, warehouses, accounts and online shops. They’ll also work together on infringements in physical markets and in e-commerce. The DMS asked P&G to provide and keep updating its trademark registration records and product identification materials. [1]

The report says authorities handled 19,646 cases involving counterfeits and IP infringement in the first nine months of 2026, collecting about VND250 billion (around US$9.6 million). That includes 635 e-commerce cases. Violations detected included products under P&G brands such as Pantene, Head & Shoulders and Olay. [1]

The DMS is also building a database on IP enforcement by market surveillance authorities. [1]

For brand owners in Vietnam, the message is that the authorities want help. Inspectors can only act on what they can recognise, so current trademark records, clear product identification guides and genuine and fake samples make a real difference. It’s worth building that relationship before there’s a problem, not after.
